United Reformed Church

The Chapel, Debenham circa 1920's

There is no record of the formation of a (URC) church at Debenham although a congregation seems to have met there since the 1660's.

The first stone of the present church was laid in 1820 and the present Manse and Lecture Hall or Schoolroom in 1869.

See Hosken "History of Congregationalism in Suffolk pages 263 - 268, Ref S 285 (Suffolk Record Office at Ipswich).
